What Is The Normal Value Of Water Quality Monitoring?
Apr 09, 2025| Normal drinking water TDS value should be ≤1000 mg/L, total hardness ≤450 mg/L, pH value 6.5-8.5
The normal range of water quality testing needs to be comprehensively judged based on different indicators. The following are the core standards:
Normal range of key indicators
Total dissolved solids (TDS)
Qualified standard: According to the "Sanitary Standard for Drinking Water (GB5749-2022)", TDS value ≤1000 mg/L is qualified drinking water.
Other reference suggestions:
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that the TDS value of drinking water should be ≤500 mg/L;
Direct drinking water (such as water filtered by a water purifier) recommends TDS ≤50 mg/L, but this belongs to the enterprise or higher standards, not mandatory requirements.
pH value
Normal range: 6.5-8.5 (neutral to slightly alkaline).
Total hardness
Qualified standard: ≤450 mg/L (calculated as calcium carbonate).
Heavy metal limit
Iron ≤ 0.3 mg/L, manganese ≤ 0.1 mg/L, copper/zinc ≤ 1 mg/L.
Other indicators
Total bacteria ≤ 100 CFU/mL, coliform bacteria must not be detected;
Dissolved oxygen 5-9 mg/L, conductivity < 100 μS/cm.
