Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS)

Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS)

Continuous monitoring of gaseous pollutants, particulate matter and key flue-gas parameters from industrial stacks.
The system integrates extractive gas sampling, gas analysis, particulate measurement, flue-gas parameter monitoring and data acquisition in one coordinated platform. It is designed for boilers, kilns, furnaces and other stationary emission sources.

  • Product Introduction

Product overview

The Continuous Emission Monitoring System is designed for automatic online monitoring of industrial flue-gas emissions. A representative sample is extracted from the stack and transferred to the gas analysis unit. At the same time, separate instruments measure particulate matter, oxygen and operating parameters such as temperature, pressure, velocity and moisture.

The data acquisition system combines the monitoring results, displays operating status, stores historical records and prepares data for plant control or authorized reporting systems. The final configuration is selected according to the pollutants, concentration range, stack conditions and local project requirements.

Parameters that can be monitored

  • Sulfur dioxide (SO2)
  • Nitrogen oxides (NOx); confirm whether the public result is NO, NO2 or calculated NOx
  • Oxygen (O2)
  • Particulate matter / dust
  • Flue-gas temperature, pressure and velocity
  • Flue-gas moisture

Measurement principle

The gas sample is collected by extractive sampling and transferred to the conditioning and analysis cabinet. The confirmed material describes ultraviolet absorption and differential optical absorption for SO2 and NOx analysis, electrochemical measurement for oxygen, differential-pressure measurement with a Pitot tube for flow-related parameters, and a resistance-capacitance method for moisture.

Data and communication

The data system displays real-time measurements and equipment status, stores minute, hourly and daily records, and generates reports. Communication with the customer's DCS or reporting platform can be provided according to the confirmed project interface.

Typical applications

  • Thermal power plants and industrial boilers
  • Steel sintering and steelmaking processes
  • Cement kilns
  • Waste incineration plants
  • Petrochemical heaters and furnaces
  • Other stationary industrial emission sources

Installation and maintenance

A project normally requires a representative sampling location, safe access platform, analyzer shelter or cabinet space, power, grounding, clean instrument air, calibration gas connections and suitable cable routes. The final arrangement must follow the actual stack dimensions and site safety rules.

Routine work includes checking filters and sample lines, confirming instrument-air pressure, purging the probe and Pitot tube, reviewing alarms, checking zero/span drift and replacing consumable parts when required.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What does a CEMS monitor?

A: A typical system monitors SO2, NOx, oxygen, particulate matter and flue-gas parameters such as temperature, pressure, velocity and moisture. The final list depends on the project.

Q: Is the product limited to one measurement range?

A: No. Ranges are selected according to the expected emission level and reporting requirements. The values published on the current page are reference configurations.

Q: Can the system connect to a plant DCS?

A: Yes, when the required interface and protocol are confirmed during configuration.

Q: How is the system calibrated?

A: Zero and span gas can be introduced manually or automatically. The schedule and acceptance criteria follow the final equipment manual and local project requirements.

Q: What information is needed for a quotation?

A: Provide the pollutants, expected ranges, stack temperature, pressure, moisture, dust level, stack dimensions, sampling location, utilities and required data interface.
